With an outstanding ensemble cast, “Little Red Warrior and His Lawyer” takes you through twists and turns that will have you on a roller coaster of laughter and sobering truths. The wit and candor of the script combined with skillful storytelling makes this show as unexpected as it is necessary.

Little Red Warrior, the last remaining member of the Little Red Warrior First Nation, discovers construction has begun on his ancestral lands. In a fit of rage, he attacks an engineer, gets arrested, thrown in jail, and assigned a court-appointed lawyer, Larry, who then invites Little Red Warrior to stay with him and his wife.

“Little Red Warrior and His Lawyer” is a rare gem that uses dark, tongue-and-cheek humour to get to the core of the issues that plague our world. A satire unlike any other, the show carefully yet unapologetically showcases the problematic stereotypes, unveiling the often-fetishizing ways in which we see and are shown images of Indigenous Peoples in the media, making us question what we know and how we got here.

The writing, cast, and the intricate plot lines form one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. It is a show that through humour will leave your conscious forever shaken! It is as entertaining as it is transcendent, and as noble as it is hilarious.

Kevin Loring’s writing and direction paired with the incredibly talented cast of Sam Bob, Shekhar Paleja, Luisa Jojic, Kevin McNulty, and of course, Nick Miami Benz, showcase what is possible on stage. A beautiful amalgamation of storytelling and theatre that uses the art of the absurd to make sense of our absurd world!
