The Gameplay

“The Gameplay” is a two-person play centred on the contrast between a boy’s relationship with the physical world around him and that with the world in an online video game. The show explores the strangeness of interactions we have with those around us- who we trust, and how we trust them. The actors were stupendous, though the plot was not uncommon and somewhat complacent. “The Gameplay” did conjure up some suspenseful moments and snatched a few giggles from the audience. All in all, the production is short and worth a watch if you’re in the mood for something light and playful.

CARMILLA

You are in for an absolute “hoot” in “Carmilla”! The performers’ dedication to the portrayal of a Victorian-era-esque storyline, all the while thrilling the audience with their sharp moves, is a spectacle worth experiencing. The mystery of Carmilla is gripping as is the conviction of the performers as they take over the fitting venue of The Painted Lady. The love story is entertaining and the humour witty. “Carmilla” also speaks to something deeper. The show intelligently weaves the theme of accepting gender multiplicity into its charming plot, giving resolve to the audience after the fits of laughter, howling (as per burlesque etiquette) and roaring applause.
